Big Brothers Big Sisters
As one of the largest adult-to-child mentoring organizations in the nation, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay currently serves over 3,500 youth in one-to-one relationships, and more than 100 additional youth in group activities and camperships. The current Massachusetts Bay service area encompasses 155 cities and towns throughout the Massachusetts Bay area.
Ment'or BKB Foundation
The Ment'or BKB foundation is a nonprofit that aims to inspire excellence in young culinary professionals and preserve the traditions and quality of cuisine in America. Ment'or is led by founders Chefs Daniel Boulud, Thomas Keller and Jérôme Bocuse, as well as an esteemed Culinary Council of over forty renowned chefs. Educational grants and internships are offered to culinary professionals through the Continuing Education Program. The Young Chef and Commis Competition series offer yet another opportunity for young professionals to further their culinary careers. Men'or is also responsible for recruiting, training, and financially supporting the promising young American chefs who represent the USA in the prestigious biennial Bocuse d'Or competition, held in Lyon, France. Team USA won the Bocuse d'Or Gold Medal in 2017, marking the first time in the competition's 30 year history that the USA placed first on the podium.
Cam Neely Foundation
Since its inception, the Cam Neely Foundation for Cancer Care has raised over $18 million from donations of all sizes, impacted thousands of families and continues to dedicate itself to designing, funding, and completing projects at Tufts Medical Center with immediate and tangible results.
Chefs for Humanity
Chefs for Humanity is an alliance of culinary professionals and educators working in partnership with U.S. and global organizations, providing nutrition education, hunger relief, and emergency and humanitarian aid to reduce hunger across the world.
Common Threads
Common Threads, a non-profit organization, was founded in 2003 by Art Smith, personal chef to Oprah Winfrey. The mission of Common Threads is to educate children on the importance of nutrition and physical well-being, and to foster an appreciation of cultural diversity through cooking. Common Threads helps bridge cultural boundaries and strengthen our global family by teaching children about their similarities and differences in the warm comfort of the kitchen. By preparing and sharing nutritious, ethically diverse meals, the children who participate in Common Threads' hands on after school programs learn to connect with their bodies, their neighbors and their world in bite-sized lessons.
Food Allergy Research & Education
Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) works on behalf of the 15 million Americans with food allergies, including all those at risk for life-threatening anaphylaxis. The potentially deadly disease affects 1 in 13 children in the United States - or roughly two in every classroom. FARE is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was formed in 2012 as the result of a merger between the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network and the Food Allergy Initiative. The Greater Boston Food Bank
The Greater Boston Food Bank distributes approximately 30 million pounds of food and grocery products annually to more than 600 hunger relief agencies in a dedicated partnership to end hunger in eastern Massachusetts. The Food Bank serves 83,000 people each week.
Cradles to Crayons
Cradles to Crayons was founded in 2002, with the mission of providing children ages 0-12 some of the most important basics of life free of charge. These basics include clothing, school supplies, toys, and much more. In other words, Cradle to Crayons provides all the physical goods children need to be safe, protected from the elements, and ready to learn. By supplying them with high-quality used or new goods, they make children feel valued.
Cradles to Crayons partners with social-service organizations to connect communities that have surplus resources - new or used items in good condition- with communities that desperately need access to those resources.
The Women's Lunch Place
Since 1982, the Women's Lunch Place has been a daytime community in Boston for poor and homeless women and their children. Women's Lunch Place provides a safe, comfortable daytime shelter, nutritious food, and services for women who are homeless or poor. They treat women with dignity and respect and foster a community committed to meeting each woman's needs.
